Looking along Piccadilly, Manchester
Looking along Piccadilly, Manchester
Taken in April 1969, this photo taken from Portland Street shows Piccadilly looking westwards towards Market Street. Two blue and cream Leyland Titan buses each with Roe 65-seater bodywork, can be seen on the right of the photo. They were operated by Ashton-under-Lyne Corporation Transport until it was merged into SELNEC Passenger Transport Executive on the 1st November 1969. A taxi can be seen on the left turning into Portland Street, whilst a few red Manchester City Transport vehicles are in the distance. Only part of Piccadilly is now open to traffic, the rest being pedestrianised.
