A 36 ft high obelisk surmounted by a bust of the Duke of Wellington with 'Waterloo Wood' behind. It was erected in 1844 by Colonel Richard Elmhirst and bears the inscription "This wood was planted with acorns sown immediately after the memorable Battle of Waterloo"
