Gothic folly
Gothic folly
The curious and idiosyncratic architecture of Pensychnant contains design and architectural elements from a number of sources, such as the mullioned windows, circular turret and steep roof pitches in slate and tile. Apparently reclaimed materials such as the sandstone arch over the grand entrance with its red granite columns contrast with locally sourced bedrock and erratic blocks, but the origin of the black stone quoins is not known. Construction took place between 1877 and 1882.
