TQ2681 : Paddington Station, Praed Street

taken 7 years ago, near to Paddington, Westminster, Great Britain

Paddington Station, Praed Street
Paddington Station, Praed Street
As seen from the Bishop's Road bridge. Its four sheds can clearly be seen - three by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, 1850-54, the fourth added in 1914-16. The tracery patterns can just be made out on the ends. Among other reasons, the station is listed because "[of] its outstanding architectural quality, a landmark in railway architecture, an historically significant exercise in large-scale wrought-iron construction, and ... an important instance of ornament being developed specially for iron construction". Grade I listed.
Prominent behind is 20 Eastbourne Terrace (TQ2681 : 10-30 Eastbourne Terrace).
