SU1515 : Culvert and hatches

taken 7 years ago, near to Fordingbridge, Hampshire, Great Britain

Culvert and hatches
Culvert and hatches
This culvert, crossing a tributary of the River Avon, has a set of hatches on the far side that would have been used to 'drown' the nearby water meadows. Recently rebuilt, they are still usable. There is an Ordnance Survey benchmark above the buttress at the centre of the bridge, see SU1515 : Benchmark on the culvert.
