NY9223 : Large tree at Pin Gate

taken 7 years ago, near to Thringarth, County Durham, Great Britain

Large tree at Pin Gate
Large tree at Pin Gate
A prominent landmark just above the Pennine Way. This tree (ash?) and a larch stand inside the ruined remains of a drystone enclosure and are seen as the Way traverses the southern flank of Harter Fell. It looks like a few more recent plantings are being encouraged. We decided to climb the fell as it was a clear (but very windy!) day.
