Minesweeper from Parham Road
Minesweeper from Parham Road
MMS293 viewed from Parham Road, on the south side of Forton Lake. The setting sun illuminated the hull well, I thought, on what was a lovely late-winter-early-spring afternoon/evening. 6 February 2008 at around 16:30, if you want to make your own mind up regarding which of those categories this shot falls into.

I'd say any of them myself, but surprisingly to me MMS293 is not a regular subject of local photographers; shots of Vadne are found in abundance if you look as far as Flickr (where I am also a member, name "dank147") - perhaps because Vadne, on the south shore, is easily accessed from Parham Road. To get to the minesweeper, when I did go over there, I had to walk over to Explosion! Museum, where at the end of the opening bridge there is a slope - down which I'd have to edge myself, before easing onto the north shore and all the way back along before I was there.

For me, it was a 20-minute walk across the bridge and lake...worth it, of course, for the purpose of recording the decaying heritage.

PS - worth noting that these were taken before the redevelopment of the local Felicia Park urban farm into a housing estate "Felicia Close" on which I presently live and am one of the community of the first inhabitants - from May of 2011.
