Hermit's Well, PrestonGlen, Linlithgow
It's a bit difficult to work out what's what here even with no leaves on the trees. The cliff in the background has a spring at its base, the water from which forms the two rivulets on either side of the large moss-covered boulder in the centre. The distance from the camera to the cliff is probably in the order of 30-40 metres. To my knowledge, there is no local history of any hermit ever having lived up The Glen. I suspect it's a Victorian invention.
