TL1697 : River Nene upstream of Orton Sluices

taken 12 years ago, near to Orton Longueville, Peterborough, England

River Nene upstream of Orton Sluices
River Nene upstream of Orton Sluices
The green boom is in place to prevent boat traffic from approaching the sluice structure. The navigable route is via the lock in the distance beyond the boom. Looking at currently available satellite imagery the boom was once orange in colour. Old Ordnance Survey maps refer to this area as Orton Stanch.
