TL1897 : Woodston: Wharf Road

taken 12 years ago, near to Orton Longueville, Peterborough, England

Woodston: Wharf Road
Woodston: Wharf Road
Wharf Road is so called because it was once went to a wharf on the navigable River Nene, although the 1889 edition of the Ordnance Survey mapping calls the road Water End. Only by the time that the 1901 edition was published did it acquire its present name.

In this otherwise unremarkable road the cottages on the left, both the thatched and tiled ones, date from the late 17th Century and are Grade II Listed.
