St Hilary transmitting mast
St Hilary transmitting mast
Located on high ground north of the A48, and to the NE of the Vale of Glamorgan village of St Hilary. The guyed steel mast, 750 feet (229 metres) high, was built in 1957 for transmitting 405-line ITV television programmes to South Wales and the West of England. 405-line TV transmissions ceased in 1985. Currently (early 2012), the mast is used for analogue and digital radio transmissions.
