24 Lever Street, Manchester
A majestic, imposing former warehouse, a great sense of height conveyed by the narrow frontage by means of piers and turrets, all crowned by shaped gables. Two of the third-floor windows have extravagant sandstone aprons. As was common in warehouses, the side elevations are faced in glazed brick. Built 1898. Grade II listed.
The building's website (LinkExternal link ) - it is currently offices for various trendy arty types - reckons that it was designed by Mills and Murgatroyd for Johnsons, "manufacturers of small, wire products such as fireguards and hanging baskets".
