New Barn, near Aldbourne
New Barn, near Aldbourne
New Barn (as it is named) stands beside the B4192 road not far from Aldbourne. As the photograph shows, it is not new at all, though it may have been so named to distinguish it from Old Barn not far away, which is now completely ruined. New Barn is still used for storing hay, and has modern barn buildings attached to the back. It is built of traditional materials, flint and brick, and has a wooden frame to its roof, which was once probably thatched.
