Lion on Lion Gate
Lion on Lion Gate
The Lion Gate is a large stone arch that stands at one of the entrances to Charborough Park. This is the lion that stands on top of it. The lion is made from Lithodipyra or Coade stone, a ceramic stoneware that was often described as an artificial stone that was used for some statues up until 1840. It is fired from a clay like mixture.
