These wooden pontoons are often set alight by, a firefighter has just walked along the north shore from the bridge as there isn't another way to access this particular pontoon, and is in the process of putting out the fire. It died down quickly, but didn't completely "die off" until a few hours later.

Things like these, I think, showcase just what the firefighters' job isn't - to be occupied with snuffing out a rotting pontoon, rather than be ready to assist with, say, a burning building. It does often strike me that whoever has the idea to start a fire in a place like this...isn't the brightest spark to say the least...
