Washfold Pot
Washfold Pot
Like many caves and potholes in the Dales, a tame entrance hides much more impressive underground scenery. Not far inside there is a fine, roomy shaft of 40m followed by several shorter drops to an ultimate depth of 112m and length of 312m. The system was first explored to its limits in 1933/4 by the Gritstone Club and Northern Cavern & Fell Club. There were no potholers down today. Looking towards a snow-covered Park Fell.
