Aylesford is a small village on the banks of the River Medway, north west of Maidstone. The village has a long history and contains many old buildings, including a mediaeval bridge and The Friars LinkExternal link (a Carmelite monastery). Today the village has two pubs, a post office and several shops. the railway came in 1856.
