Ashwell signal box and crossing
Ashwell signal box and crossing
A Midland Railway (MR) signal box of 1912, recorded as a type 4a by the Signalling Record Society. Note the delightful finials on the roof! At some time since 1996 new windows have been fitted, so the distinctive MR windows with little fillets in the top corners have been lost. But the signaller is probably warmer and draught-free as a result.
