taken 7 years ago, 3 km from Orton Longueville, Peterborough, Great Britain

Peterborough: The Town Bridge
Peterborough: The Town Bridge
The original wooden town bridge that crossed the River Nene here dated from 1308 and lasted until it was replaced by an iron bridge in 1872. The iron bridge itself was replaced by the current concrete structure in 1934. The iron bridge was not demolished until the new bridge was completed and crossed the river slightly upstream (this side) of the new bridge. Today the bridge carries the A15 London Road over the river.
