Public Benefit Boot Company
Public Benefit Boot Company
The tiled mosaic floor is in the entrance to the decorating shop in Saville Street - number 13a. The shop once housed a branch of the Public Benefit Boot and Shoe Co. The business was started in Hull in 1875, when William Henry Franklin set up shop. Thirty years later, the business had grown into a nationwide network: two hundred boot stores, several repair shops and four modern factories covering Newcastle, the Southwest, South Wales and Ireland.
