NY4005 : Baystones

taken 7 years ago, near to Troutbeck, Cumbria, Great Britain

This is 1 of 4 images, with title Baystones in this square
Baystones is the northern top of the Wansfell ridge and the highest point along it.
A glance at OS maps at either 1:50 000 or 1:25 000 scales could have one thinking that a spot height at 487m is the highest point of the hill, both as that is the only point given a height and that the name Baystones appears to refer to that location. The 487m point is however the nearest top in view in this image with the photograph being taken from a point just a little to the south and higher; the actual summit.
Caudale Moor is the domed mountain in the distance.
(Note added 08/02/2012: OS mapping at larger scales viewable on this site give a spot height for the summit knoll also at 487m yet there's no doubt that that location is higher.)
