High Peak Junction Spring 1967
High Peak Junction Spring 1967
Operations on the High Peak Railway had come to a close by the time this photograph was taken, although the upper section of the line witnessed various excursions, the last being on 30th April 1967. Nature had begun to envelop the metals and here, just beyond the swing bridge over the Cromford Canal, the old workshops had yet to take on a new role as a visitor centre. The 40 mile an hour restriction sign is surely some last railwayman's jest! The actual date of the photograph is not recorded.
