Ystwyth gorge from the south
Ystwyth gorge from the south
Beyond the grassy foreground lies the Ystwyth gorge. In it, not visible, the village of Pont-rhyd-y-groes. The forestry on the opposite site is part of the Hafod estate. This is approximately the point where the Afon Ystwyth once tapped into what would have been the northern branch of the Afon Teifi due to glacial activity. Ysbyty Ystwyth lies in the former valley of the Teifi, behind the hill on the right.
