The Bridge of Sighs at Night
The Bridge of Sighs at Night
The Bridge of Sighs, so called because it linked Northgate Jail with a chapel in the Bluecoat school across the Chester Canal.
Condemned prisoners were taken there for the last rites of the Church before the hangman played fast and loose with the Sixth Commandment.
