SJ8398 : 140-144 Deansgate, Manchester

On the left, Grampian House, has a grand facade with six giant fluted Ionic columns. It looks inter-war. The ground floor is the Lost Dene pub.
Its red sandstone neighbour was built by Edward Salomons, 1890, as Gas Committee showrooms and offices. The fantasies provided by its latest occupants were clearly insufficiently compelling, and now it probably caters only for pigeons.
