Disused lime kiln, Oaten Bank
The lime kiln NZ0767 : Disused lime kiln, Oaten Bank is situated in the disused South Quarry, just south-west of Harlow Hill. The Roman Vallum crossed the hillside just above the kilns, on a straight alignment well south of Harlow Hill, which was used by the earlier surveyors of Hadrian's Wall. The line of the Vallum is lost at the quarry but its ditches and mounds can be traced in some of the surrounding fields.
