Landing facilities and compounds within the boundary of the former RAF Ouston are maintained and still in use by the adjacent Albemarle Barracks.

Between 1st November 1965 and the end of March 1966 Ouston became Newcastle Airport while the Woolsington airfield underwent alterations. At the end of September 1974 the airfield closed as an active airfield and passed to the army, re-named Albemarle Barracks.
