Flooded peat workings at Gardrum Moss
Flooded peat workings at Gardrum Moss
Peat workings at Gardrum Moss near Shieldhill. This is a raised bog on the Slamannan Plateau, once worked to produce peat for horticultural purposes. In recent years a trial restoration scheme has operated at Gardrum Moss. Several moss species occur here, including Sphagnum (S) cuspidatum, S. fimbriatum, S. denticulatum, and the rare S. papillosum.
