I half-wanted to ignore Ian Simpson's brute, but it seems churlish to pretend that the UK's tallest building outside London (and the UK's tallest residential building anywhere) doesn't exist. All 560 feet of it definitely does, but I am ambivalent about it. This picture woefully fails to capture its most distinctive feature, the cantilever at the twenty-third floor (it's just visible). Below this is a Hilton hotel, above is flats for those such as the select band of local footballers who don't want Cheshire neo-Tudor.
In front is a colourful Gothic-style bridge carrying the railway over Bridgewater Viaduct.
