Viaducts, Castle Street, Manchester (1)
There is a very complex and dramatic panoply of crossings in this area. Nearest is the now-disused railway viaduct, formerly serving Central Station, of c1898 and c1877 with tremendous castellated steel piers. Just behind with the lattice sides is another viaduct, now used by trains and trams.
Further away, crossing the Bridgewater Canal, is a skewed railway bridge with a castellated brick pier just visible.
