The changing skyline of Worcester
The changing skyline of Worcester
The new "Hive" library and history centre with its metallic panels is added to the ever changing skyline.
The two railway viaducts are Victorian brick.
The higher, level line goes to Hereford via Malvern whilst the other is disused.
The chimney on the left is for the biomass boiler originally designed to be hidden inside a tall building (hotel, flats etc.) These were not built due to market conditions but the chimney was as an important part of the sustainability strategy of the Hive.
Next is the church spire known as the Glover's Needle from the days when Worcester was famous for the manufacture of leather gloves.
Between the spire and the Hive one can see the tower of the distant Worcester Cathedral.
