Buoy at Greenfield Dock
Buoy at Greenfield Dock
Although a small port may have been associated with nearby Basingwerk Abbey, it was the industrial development of the 18th and 19th centuries which led to the growth of Greenfield. At the beginning of the 20th C, trade had declined and the dock fell into disrepair. The dock was left untouched for many years and silted up and was the target of fly-tipping. In the last few years it has been cleaned up and it reopened in August 2010 and was the scene of a TV documentary filmed in 2011 with Griff Rhys Jones.
