NT1171 : M8 from the Union Canal

taken 7 years ago, near to Ratho Station, Edinburgh, Great Britain

M8 from the Union Canal
M8 from the Union Canal
There is a complicated series of road junctions here. This is the view from the aqueduct which carries the Union Canal over the B7030, which winds its way from Newbridge to Linburn, and between the motorway and the canal is the side road leading to Clifton Hall. There are in fact two motorway bridges; the nearer one carries the slip road from the M9 on to the M8, and the one behind is the M8 itself. On the skyline are some of the reddish bings left behind by the shale oil industry.
