The castle is believed to be late 15th century or early 16th century. However it was only occupied until about 1671, after which it has been slowly crumbling away and continues to do so. In this view, in the foreground, is a homestead or croft, which appeared to be still occupied. There are very few people still living in the north of Raasay.
