Navigation Channel at the Tees Barrage
Navigation Channel at the Tees Barrage
The Tees Barrage is a barrage across the River Tees completed in 1996 used to control the flow of the river, preventing flooding and the effects of tidal change. The waters above the barrage are permanently held at the level of an average high tide. This view shows the navigation channel and the upper gate of the navigation lock, which can take boats up to 24.88m length, 6.08m beam and 2.48m draught. In the distance can be seen the new Infinity Bridge NZ4519 over the river.
