SD5388 : Large tarn below The Helm

taken 14 years ago, near to Oxenholme, Cumbria, England

Large tarn below The Helm
Large tarn below The Helm
My old 1:25000 map does not show this tarn but it would appear to be a fairly permanent body of water although of fluctuating size. The conjunction of water, cottage and steep, bracken-clad fellside gives this charming corner the feel of the nearby Lake District. The full extent of the tarn can be seen here Link in Ian Taylor's view from The Helm ridge above.
