SD6959 : Catlow Fell - Catlow Hill - Bowland Fells

Catlow Fell - Catlow Hill - Bowland Fells
Catlow Fell - Catlow Hill - Bowland Fells
Scene over the higher River Hodder valley, taken from the track on the lower slope of Bloe Greet Breast towards Catlow Fell, Catlow Hill and White Greet. Also on this summit is an area marked on the map as Ravens Castle, which I have read somewhere is the bases for a fictional Knights and damsel story of betrayal intrigue and death, but I think all ended happily ever after ! One can see the narrow fell road on the far fell of Catlow, leading left (north) to the high Cross of Greet stone (out of pic) and the Bentham villages of High and Low beyond. To the right (south)4 1/2 miles from the near by Cross of Greet Bridge (off pic)is the village of Slaidburn. Look out for roving knights and damsels in distress seeking assistance to the miles off pubs !
