Lord's Bridge - once the railway station
Lord's Bridge - once the railway station
Now part of the Cambridge University Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory, this was until 1968 Lord's Bridge station on the LNWR Cambridge-Bedford-Oxford Varsity Line (1862-1967). The nearest building is the passenger station, the third the goods shed. The picture was taken, thanks to the camera's swivelling display screen, at arm's length over the high fence. The A603 (behind the camera) once bridged the railway, but the bridge was removed after the railway closed. Old photographs of the station were often taken from the bridge.
