The Crucible Theatre was closed from 2007 to 2009 for a £15 million refurbishment – opening during that period only for the 2008 and 2009 World Snooker Championships which it has hosted since 1977.
It was formally reopened as a theatre by the Earl of Wessex on 18 February 2010.
