Green Pond in Hookstone Wood
Green Pond in Hookstone Wood
Hookstone Wood was once part of the Forest of Knaresborough. The ponds (known as the Blue Pond and the Green Pond) are remnants of the millstone quarrying which took place here between 1847 and 1897, although looking at the bank here one would imagine they were natural. Linking the ponds is a 'Living Bridge' created in 1995. Its walls and arches were made from still growing willow. This is the Green Pond which is the northern of the two.
