The Church of the Ascension, Annahilt
A Church of Ireland parish church, on the Glebe Road, north east of Annahilt crossroads. Named in honour of St Molibba who succeeded St Kevin as Bishop of Glendalough (Co Wicklow) in 617 or 618. Reputedly built on the site of an eight century church which seems to have survived until 1422 or 1641 - depending on the source used. The latter date might refer to the war of 1641/2.
It seems to have been replaced by another church built in 1741 with the present building dating from 1856.
The graveyard has many graves the headstones of which are no longer legible with the passage of time.
