Stormy Bangor
Stormy Bangor
The winter of 2011/2012 was both mild and fairly unremarkable in Bangor. After an unseasonably warm and pleasant end to March, the first week of April saw a proper north-easterly gale batter the seafront. This is the view from the 'Long Hole' towards the Eisenhower Pier as the breaking waves rolled in. The winds were gusting to about 50 knots and the waves were almost breaking over the pier - but this was taken at 5pm, only 90 minutes after low tide; at high tide 4 hours later conditions were much worse.
