Municipal Buildings, Dale Street, Liverpool
Designed by Liverpool Corporation's Surveyor, John Weightman, 1862, and altered in execution by his successor, E.R. Robson, 1867-68. "The aim was to unite the scattered offices of the expanding Corporation". Suitably grand, festooned with columns, pilasters and statues, and a centrepiece to catch the eye - a clocktower and pyramidal spire. Not being able to pin down the style, at the time The Builder described it as "Corinthianesque", not very illuminating. Grade II* listed.
To this day it is in use by Liverpool City Council.
