SK2176 : Rose Cottage

taken 12 years ago, near to Eyam, Derbyshire, England

Rose Cottage
Rose Cottage
Eyam is best known for being the "plague village" that chose to isolate itself when the plague was discovered there in August 1665, rather than let the infection spread. This is one of several cottages where plague victims lived and in many cases died. A plaque indicates that 9 members of the Thorpe family died here in 1665/66
