Paston House 22-24 Elm Hill
Most people think the Paston house, of Paston Letters fame, was here on the site of 22 Elm Hill and there is a plaque commemorating the Pastons at this location. But Pevsner suggests the Pastons had a house at 41-43 (Pettus House). It may be that the Pastons held more than one house in the area at different times or that historians have drawn different conclusions from deeds which locate the Pastons property solely by parish. Either way the building itself would have been destroyed in the fire which consumed Elm Hill in 1507. The present 16th century Grade II Listed house was built by Augustine Steward former Mayor and Sheriff of Norwich.
