Blackpool Tower from North Pier
Blackpool Tower from North Pier
A union flag flutters in the breeze on the North Pier with a backdrop of Blackpool Tower, partly swathed in scaffolding, at one time the tallest building in Britain. The speakers along the length of the pier were pumping out 'If I had a hammer', a song originally written by Pete Seeger and Lee Hays in 1949 but made famous by Peter Paul and Mary in 1962, adding a faintly surreal touch to the scene.
