Picrite Dyke
Picrite Dyke
Picrite is a coarse-grained igneous rock with a high proportion of olivine and a high level of magnesium ,but very little quartz. It is very dense and quite a small piece feels very heavy. Note the expanse of mud flats now that the tide is out. On the far side of the bay two white yurts stick out conspicuously among the trees. See NM4099 : Yurt on shore of Loch Scresort and NM4099 : Non traditional architecture.
