Looking across the market ground towards the White Lion and the children's roundabout. Compare with SJ9494 : Looking across Hyde Market and SJ9494 : A metal line across the market taken three weeks before. The ground has been levelled with tarmac and rectangular bases cut out. I think these may be the bases for the new stalls that will be erected.
Cooke's Children's Carousel
The roundabout on Hyde Market was manufactured by Halsteads of Sowerby Bridge in 1897. It was established on Hyde Market in 1919 by John William (Jack) Greaves. In the 1920s he passed it to his daughter Lily and her husband Bill Cooke. It has now been in the Cooke family for three generations.
