WH Smith

WH Smith was founded in London in 1792 by Henry Walton Smith and his wife Anna. Their son, William Henry Smith, took over the business in 1812 and so it became WH Smith.

The store is famous for selling stationery and books.

In 2009 they had over 960 stores in the UK, on the high street, in stations and airports, and employed around 18,000 people.
