Flooded Well
Flooded Well
Dug in 2003, this 8 ft deep conical well has filled in the recent flood. Willow trees have been planted on the spoil heap around the edge, and goat-willow has grown naturally inside. The well is never empty, and allows the height of the groundwater to be measured daily on the Dorset Stour floodplain 300 yards from the river. Called "Bob's Well" after the driver of a digger who dug the well without killing himself.
